Marine Industry Flat Rates: times include the following:
Time to pull the unit into the shop and out of the shop
Uncovering and Covering the unit
Diagnostic Time
"Reasonable" amount of time to look up parts
Pull parts from stock
Fill out repair order (detailed notes on what I did to diagnose and repair the complaint.)
Time to clean up after myself
Flat rate times also include the "Law of Averages". Flat rate times are not set according to the best of the best or training technician. They are an average of the two. Example: If the best technician takes one hour to perform a certain operation and the trainee technician takes three hours to perform the same operation, the flat rate is two hours.
Shop labor is charged per hour as per industry flat rate for all in-house labor.
Emergency Service Labor rate will be higher when work is preformed out of
normal work hours.
Service calls and on-the-road labor rate is charged per
hour plus per mile charge. Call for details.
